After easing back into competition with a strong third-place finish in the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap last month, Journalism continued to show he’s rounding back into top form. The accomplished 3-year-old turned in a sharp five‑furlong move in 59.40 seconds Friday morning at Santa Anita, tightening the screws for his next major assignment — the Grade 1 Metropolitan Mile Handicap at Saratoga on June 6.

The work marked Journalism’s fourth drill of the month and his first at the five‑furlong distance since returning to serious training. Trainer Michael McCarthy has kept the colt on a steady, purposeful pattern, and Friday’s move suggested the colt is right where the barn wants him heading into one of the most prestigious one‑turn miles in American racing.
