Quills Picks Winners – Friday 8/7 – Saratoga Race 10

The big races continue at Saratoga and we have a big one on tap for this afternoon. Today we will head to the turf course as three-year-old fillies will race a mile and three-sixteenths in the Grade 2 Saratoga Oaks. Eight fillies will head to the gate in the tenth race of 11 this afternoon at The Spa.

Saratoga Race 10 – Saratoga Oaks (Grade 2)

Favored in our featured race is the 6 Faithful Departed (9/5 morning line). She finished second last month in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks here at Saratoga. She closed strongly but could not get to the winner. Look for her to sit back and make a big move late in this race.

The 2 Fitz Right (5/2 ML) also showed a strong closing kick in the Belmont Oaks last month. She did get bumped some at the top of the stretch but was still closing willingly late in the race.

The 5 Imaginationthelady (4/1 ML) tired in the Belmont Oaks and finished sixth in a field of ten. This could have been a race where she just did not fire, but has an excuse as she was wide most of the way around in that Grade 1 race.

The 8 Consensus View (8/1 ML) broke her maiden at first asking going today’s distance at Aqueduct. She takes a huge step up in class here this afternoon, but she was closing strongly in that race. She will be at the back of the pack and should improve off of the debut. But she might be in deep waters here.

There is some speed in this race so there will be an opportunity for the closers here this afternoon. Imaginationthelady shouldn’t be as wide as she was last time out and will get up late for the win.
