Quills Picks Winners – Monday 8/10 – Gulfstream Park Race 6
A new week begins and we will start that week this afternoon at Gulfstream Park where they have an eight-race card. The featured race today is the sixth race, and today we have Florida bred juveniles sprinting six furlongs in the In Summation Stakes.
Gulfstream Park Race 6 – In Summation Stakes
Favored in the featured race today is the 3 Sum of Success (7/5 morning line). He was bumped significantly at the start of his debut race three weeks ago but still got the lead and never looked back. He drew off impressively with that race and will look to go two for two this afternoon.
The 1 Boyhood Dream (9/2 ML) won his debut on the Tapeta surface at the end of June. He had a cleaner start than the favorite did in his race, but he had to hold on to defeat a horse that won next time out. This colt may be better later on racing on the turf, but why not try the main track here?
The 5 Spicy Taco (7/2 ML) closed well to win a race where we experienced all kinds of trouble. He was bumped at the start and then had to check entering the turn. Once he got wide, he was able to close for the win. If there is enough pressure up front early in this race, he can close to win this today.
The 2 American Roadster (4/1 ML) road the rail to break his maiden in his debut race last month. He was right behind the leader and took advantage of the opening on the rail for the win. He could get a perfect trip sitting right behind the leaders and might get that rail trip again today.

Juvenile races are tricky, especially this time of year. Anything can happen when two-year-olds race and usually does.
I think that Sum of Success is the best horse in this field and survived a rough start to win handily today. I think he handles the stretch out without any issues and could draw off to an easy win here. Spicy Taco could make things interesting late, but I think it’s all the favorite here today.
