Go for Launch Becomes First Stakes Winner for Flightline in Bolton Landing Upset
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Go for Launch became the first stakes winner for 2022 Horse of the Year Flightline on Wednesday, rallying from an inside position to upset the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga.
Sent off at 10-1, Go for Launch raced in third along the inside before finding room between horses at the top of the stretch. She then kicked on to win by two lengths over Allura, who had set the pace.
Go for Launch was making only her second career start for trainer Kevin Attard. She had won her debut July 25 at Woodbine, where she went gate to wire in a turf sprint.
The 2-year-old filly is owned and bred by Blue Heaven Farm.
Flightline, a son of Tapit, was unbeaten in six career starts and earned Horse of the Year honors in 2022. Go for Launch is the first stakes winner from his first crop to accomplish the feat.
Go for Launch is out of Starship Jubilee, a daughter of Indy Wind. Starship Jubilee was a three-time Canadian champion and was named Canada’s Horse of the Year in 2019. She also raced for Blue Heaven Farm and was trained by Attard.
With Wednesday’s victory, Go for Launch improved her record to 2-0-0 from two starts.
The Bolton Landing marked her first stakes appearance and her first start at Saratoga.
Go for Launch was bred in Kentucky by Blue Heaven Farm and is owned by Blue Heaven Farm, with Bonnie Baskin and Adam Corndorf listed as owners.
