Quills Picks Winners – Friday 11/6 – Belmont Park Race 7
After sweeping the races at Churchill Downs, we head to New York for today’s race. Our featured race is race seven of an eight-race card as a field of seven will go one mile and one eighth on the main track.
Note that at Belmont Park, they are one of only two tracks in North America that has this configuration for the main track. So for those that believe in such things, this is a unique set up today for these optional claimers.

Belmont Park Race 7 – Allowance Optional Claiming
Favored in today’s race is the 2 Yo Daddy (2/1 morning line). He finished fourth in a similar race here at Belmont last month. He was last early in the race but figures to run best when he is closer to the pace.
The 5 Full Screen (5/2 ML) returns after a two-month layoff after finishing last in the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic at the end of August. He gets class relief off of that race and returns to a much more comfortable race here where he closed well in his two previous races at Saratoga.
The 7 Tuscan Sky (9/2 ML) faced a loaded optional claiming field where he was eased, but it appears it was more to protect him for another day more than anything else. He is on the outside here today and could be stalking the pace from that outside post.
The 1 Stronsino (5/1 ML) finished third in the Polynesian Stakes at Laurel Park last month where he could not get to the winner. He may assume the lead from the start here with the rail post here this afternoon.

Joe’s Pick
Sometimes you have to reach for the stars and get nothing. That’s what happened with Full Screen last time out. Also, Charles Town is a quirky track. He returns to New York racing after a freshening and should be ready here this afternoon. I’m expecting him to close strongly to get up for the win here today.
I’m calling this race 5-2-1-7 and my play is $20 to win on the 5. Best of luck and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
