Quills Picks Winners – Monday 6/22 – Parx Race 8
Happy Monday and since it is Monday, that means we head home to Parx for today’s race. Our race is race eight of a nine-race card. Fillies and mares will sprint six furlongs in this optional claiming race.
Also note that weather may be a factor in this race. Big storms are set to hit the Philadelphia area in the afternoon, right around the 5 pm start of today’s World Cup match at Lincoln…I mean Philadelphia Stadium. If the storm hits early, we could see a quick change to a wet track or even a cancellation. But I will still handicap like this race will occur under dry but threatening conditions.

Parx Race 8 – Allowance Optional Claiming
Favored in today’s race is the 4 Central to Success (3/1 morning line). She races for the first time since the end of March where she closed well to finish third. She is usually closer to the lead than she was in March, but she might have found a new way to run. But she does race at home today after a few races in New York.
The 5 Into Hijinks (7/2 ML) broke her maiden convincingly last month here at Parx after stalking early. She will be close to the pace early on and will try to make it two wins in a row as she faces older horses for the first time today.
The 7 Stately Girl (4/1 ML) drew off in her maiden breaker 12 days ago here at Parx. Some will argue that this filly may be a bounce candidate, but she has improved in her last few races.
The 3 Honor Roll (6/1 ML) is the speed of this race and has the potential to go gate to wire here. She returns from a short layoff after fading in her last two races at Laurel and Turfway. The time off could be the panacea or has a pattern developed?

Joe’s Pick
This is a wide open race and you can pretty much make a case for all eight of these fillies in the race. I’ll take the morning line favorite here in Central to Success. She may revert back to running closer to the pace, but she has a trainer that wins almost 30% of the time off of layoffs of this length and has one of the top jocks on the grounds.
I’m calling this race 4-5-7-3 and my play is $20 to win on the 4. Best of luck and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
