Quills Picks Winners – Monday 6/8 – Parx Race 9

After an exciting and successful weekend at Parx, we head home to Parx for today’s featured race. They actually have five featured races today as the Philly Big 5, their jackpot wager, has a mandatory payout today.

This race is part of the sequence today and should be an interesting one. Our race is a optional claiming race going a mile and a sixteenth on the main track. Nine are entered in this test.

Parx Race 9 – Allowance Optional Claiming

Favored in our race today is the 5 Surfside Moon (2/1 morning line). He was wide last time out at Laurel Park in an optional claimer and finished third. Previously at Penn National despite having to steady he rallied to win an allowance race there. He has a strong closing kick, but he probably will be stalking the pace today.

The 3 Majorca (5/1 ML) defeated Surfside Moon at Laurel last month. He wants the lead but he will be challenged on the front end early today.

The 9 Margie’s Fun Son (4/1 ML) weakened in an optional claimer at Laurel Park around 10 days ago. He has four wins at Parx and he can run either close to the pace or from well off the pace. Look for an improvement from his first race in two months.

The 7 Happily Delusional (15/1 ML) had to steady early last month here at Parx and did not show much afterwards. He did win an allowance race here two races back while on the lead. I don’t think he gets the lead here, but he could sneak up late and get a piece of this here.

Majorca defeated the morning line favorite last month at Laurel Park and despite the new venue, I think he has a similar trip and draws off to win here once again. He has progressed nicely since returning from a long layoff in March.
