Quills Picks Winners – Saturday 4/25 – Oaklawn Race 10
The second race that we will look at today is at Oaklawn Park where they have an 11-race card as their meet starts to wind down. Like Churchill, we have older fillies and mares featured. But unlike the race under the Twin Spires, these fillies and mares will go one mile in the Dig A Diamond Stakes. Seven fillies and mares are entered in this race.

Oaklawn Race 10 – Dig A Diamond Stakes
Favored is the 1 Standoutsensation (2/1 morning line). She appears to want the lead, but in her last race in the Grade 2 Azeri here at Oaklawn, she was unable to get the lead. She faced a sloppy track last month and may be facing a wet track again this afternoon.
The 7 Runamileinmyshoes (5/2 ML) won on the front end last time out going two turns in an optional claiming race here last month. She will be challenging the favorite on the front end and should be dueling.
The 5 Pronghorn (3/1 ML) closed well to win an optional claiming race here last month with an outside move. She steps up in class here, but she looks she can take can make a late move on the outside. The problem is that this race is a short stretch or first finish line race.
The 2 Mad About Marie (8/1 ML) closed well in an optional claiming race here last month, finishing third by less than a length. She can stalk if she needs to do so, but I think she can close with a wide move as well here this afternoon.
Joe’s Pick
Don’t be surprised if the two favorites burn each other out here. I think that Pronghorn will get the perfect trip here this afternoon, and she will hold off Mad About Marie for the win today.
I’m calling this race 5-2-7-1 and my play is $20 to win on the 5. Best of luck and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
