We head south to Gulfstream Park for today’s race where it might be actually cooler in Hallandale Beach today than it is in Philadelphia. Nevertheless, we have a field of nine Florida bred fillies and mares going a mile on the turf course this afternoon.
Gulfstream Park Race 5 – Allowance
Favored in today’s race is the 6 Souper Landslide (2/1 morning line). She showed nothing in the Sanibel Island Stakes last time out in her first attempt against winners. She gets class relief here as she drops into allowance company. I’m expecting her to be closer to the pace here this afternoon.
The 3 Sapphire Girl (5/2 ML) returns to the turf today after finishing third in an off the turf race that we know from following Gulfstream goes to their synthetic course. She has an excuse as she was wide last time out but did show interest at the end. Look for her to be a little bit behind the favorite and make a late move.
The 9 Bayou Brigid (9/2 ML) was bumped around some back in February but came still finished second in that race. She returns today with some nice works and a bullet a couple of weeks ago. She may get a bit of a break here after a few races last year against stakes company.
The 5 It’s Satisfactual (10/1 ML) closed well to win a claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs two weeks ago and returns here at Gulfstream Park 13 days later. This may be a bit of a task for her today, but she has improved over her last few races.

Bayou Brigid ran well last time out against a filly who has run well in stakes company since that race in February. I think that her back class as well as the experience of facing a horse that was prepping for stakes races will help her and she will get up to win today.
