Quills Picks Winners – Wednesday 7/29 – Horseshoe Indianapolis Race 8
With racing cancelled at Saratoga this afternoon because of torrential rains, we turn our attention to Horseshoe Indianapolis today. A field of ten horses will go gateward in an allowance race. They will sprint six furlongs on the main track in our new featured race of the day.

Horseshoe Indianapolis Race 8 – Allowance
Favored in today’s race is the 8 Show Time (5/2 morning line). He comes in from Ellis Park where he was game in defeat, losing by a nose in the final strides. If there is a concern with this gelding, it is the fact that this will be his third race in 17 days. He will gun for the lead and look to take this field gate to wire.
The 11 Sleepy (3/1 ML) finished second in the Nobody Listens Handicap here at Horseshoe Indy last month. He also likes to run on the front end, but he will drop from handicap company for today. He may be even faster out of the gate than the favorite here this afternoon which might not bode well for the favorite.
The 4 Storm the Streets (5/1 ML) yielded late in a claiming race at Churchill Downs and finished fourth last month. Look for this gelding to be stalking behind the speed today as he shortens up for his third race off of an almost five-month layoff.
The 5 Tazzy (20/1 ML) may be the horse that picks up the pieces here with the speed that is to his outside today. He won two in a row at Horseshoe Indianapolis, including a last to first run after getting bumped when facing winners for the first time. He might have woken up here and realized what the horse racing game is like after those two wins today.

Joe’s Pick
This race looks like it will set up for anyone who can put a closing move together. Show Time and Sleepy will go for the lead as will the 9 Bebedouro which could set things up for a horse that has shown the ability to close or even a super longshot to make us scratch our heads.
I’m going bombs away here with Tazzy. He has won two in a row against lesser but might have figured things out. Though the speed figures are not great, they have improved the last two times out. With the expected speed duel, we might be looking at the tote board lighting up like a Christmas tree.
I’m calling this race 5-4-11-8 and my play is $20 to win on the 5. Best of luck and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
