Impractical Joins New Trainer: Lauren Robson

Impractical returned to Keeneland and is now in the care of trainer Lauren Robson following a decision by issuer Rob Krattiger.

After five starts without breaking his maiden, Rob felt it was the right time to make a change and try a different approach. This move allows Impractical to join a smaller operation where he’ll receive more individual attention while the team continues to evaluate the conditions and distances that will best support his success. Rob remains confident that Impractical’s future is likely as a sprinter, and believes a combination of class relief and a fresh perspective could help the colt reach his potential.

Lauren Robson is an up-and-coming trainer based at Keeneland. Before launching her own stable in 2023, she gained valuable experience working alongside some of the sport’s most respected horsemen, including Jonathan Sheppard, Wesley Ward, Jerry Hollendorfer, Todd Pletcher, and Richard Mandella. Her hands-on horsemanship and attention to detail made her an appealing fit for this next chapter in Impractical’s development.

Before any race plans, Robson is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of Impractical, including a full physical workup, to ensure there are no underlying issues that could be limiting his performance. From there, the team will develop a training plan with the goal of finding the right level of competition and ultimately getting the colt his maiden victory.
