Quills Picks Winners – Saturday 9/5 – Saratoga Race 11
With our focus on Kentucky Downs on Also Eligible, I thought I would also add the feature race from Saratoga for the added interest. The feature at The Spa this afternoon is race 11 of a 12-race card as two-year-old fillies will go seven furlongs on the main track in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes.
Eight juvenile fillies are entered in this test. The winner of this race earns a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies which will be at Keeneland on October 30th.
Saratoga Race 11 – Spinaway Stakes (Grade 1)
Favored in the Spinaway is the 2 Summer Starlet (2/1 morning line). She was very impressive in her debut last month going from last to first with a runaway win here at Saratoga despite a very wide move on the turn. She could get a similar set up like she did in her debut here today with a couple of dueling speedsters up front today.
The 6 Harper’s Corner (5/1 ML) is two for two in her young career with runaway wins at both Laurel Park in June and here at Saratoga in July in the Schuylerville Stakes. Both races were wins on the front end, but she should have company on the front end here this afternoon.
The 8 Life Changing (5/2 ML) may be the fastest out of the gate here as she romped while in hand in her debut last month at Saratoga. She will have the outside post here today and will try to get a fast start from that post.
The 4 Stress Relief (8/1 ML) won the Grade 3 Adirondack here at Saratoga last month after getting bumped at the break. She was four-wide on the turn and rallied for the win. She could get first run at the leaders as they turn for home if the front runners go too fast up front.

I admit I really do think there could be a speed duel up front today. If that does happen, things looks great for the favorite Summer Starlet today. She should get the same set up that she had in her debut and should end up winning this today, getting by Stress Relief who will have first run at the dueling leaders.
