Quills Picks Winners – Tuesday 4/21 – Horseshoe Indianapolis Race 3

We have an early race on tap this afternoon at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Today we have an Indiana bred allowance for fillies and mares going one mile on their main track. A field of eight horses are entered in the third race of the afternoon.

Horseshoe Indianapolis Race 3 – Allowance

Favored in today’s featured race is the 7 Innisfree Lass (8/5 morning line). Like most of the horses on the grounds, she is racing for the first time since the end of last season here at Horseshoe Indy. She faced some of the toughest fields and has been close in some of those. Expect her to make a move as they turn for home this afternoon,

The 3 Theoretically (9/2 ML) ran well in her 2025 finally here at Horseshoe Indy finishing second in her first attempt around two turns. She has prepped for her return at Turfway Park and Churchill Downs, so she should be fit for her return. Also, her pedigree tells me she wants two turns, so let’s see what she can do here today.

The 8 Sweet Saint (5/2 ML) is the speed of the race and will try to go gate to wire here this afternoon. She might get challenged early, but I also like that she is four for six lifetime including two wins going two turns.

The 2 Fifth Wheel (10/1 ML) could be the most fit of the group having run three times already this year, all on the Tapeta track of Turfway Park. But her best races are on the turf and synthetic. She should sneak up on the board here today.

It looks like Sweet Saint could have a challenge on the front end here, but I think despite the fact that Innisfree Lass faced some of the toughest Indiana breds on the grounds here last season, I think Sweet Saint has what it takes to go gate to wire this afternoon.
